the write stuff
went for my first book reading by a non-obscure writer yesterday. i was a wee bit disappointed by the bright (flourescent) lights, the crowd (or lack of) and the general location. kinda expected it to be cosier and more romantic than that, like in the movies. anyways, beggars cant be choosers. it was an interesting session though. he read a short excerpt from his first book, the impressionist, which i havent read, yet. hehe. and spoke about his writing and influences.
he's kinda wot i expected a contemporary writer to look like - wiry rims; understated clothing; err..well-trimmed goatee/moustache thingy; bald (ok, this is optional) and the bri-ish accent (must have!). kakaka. intellectually cool in a dorky sorta way. this bloke deejays and all (massive attack's on his list!).
picnic bought noise but forgot to get it autographed. duh. we realised too late. he'd already left the building. ah well. better luck next time.
